[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Once again, Fair Haven Community Health Center was honored to host Connecticut’s congressional delegation of Senators Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy as they came to share their concerns and listen to those of our patients and providers about the upcoming “funding cliff.” The “Cliff” is set to occur at midnight, October 1 if and when Congress does not approve an extension of support for the Community Health Center Fund. New bi-partisan legislature was introduced on September 13th that would have ensured no interruption of funding for the 1,400 Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) expected to lose up to 70% of their funding without new legislation in place.
Dr. Suzanne Lagarde expressed her deep concerns about the long term impact, but emphasized Fair Haven is committed to maintaining high quality patient care. She and others see the impact of the funding loss centered on the work of non-clinical providers, the care coordinators, health navigators, and social workers who partner with and guide patients through the care system, helping with transportation, health insurance, language barriers and more.
