Fair Haven Community Health Care is proud to be the only New Haven location, as selected by CT’s Department of Health, to offer the JYNNEOS vaccine for monkeypox. The vaccine is two doses, administered 4 weeks apart, with the vaccine reaching maximum protection 2 weeks after the 2nd dose. Qualifying individuals can call FHCHC at 203.777.7411, and press 7 to make an appointment.
FHCHC is following CT State guidelines, administering the vaccine to CT residents, 18+ who are gay, bisexual, OR other men who have sex with men, AND/OR are transgender, gender non-conforming, or gender non-binary AND have had multiple or anonymous sex partners in the last 14 days. The vaccine is also available to anyone who has been exposed to the virus and then reported it to the New Haven Department of Health at 203.946.6999.
Anyone can be exposed to monkeypox through close contact with an infected person. If you or someone you are close to has an unexplained rash that can look like pimples or blisters and shows up on the face, hands, feet, chest, genitals or inside of the mouth, please make an appointment to get tested. Other symptoms may include fever, headache, chills, exhaustion, muscle ache and backache, and swollen lymph nodes.
