Recognizing the challenges so many CT residents face landing a vaccine appointment, Fair Haven Community Health Care (FHCHC) is opening its vaccination clinic to walk-ups, starting Thursday, April 22. Located at Wilbur Cross High School at 181 Mitchell Drive in New Haven – within the school’s small gym – FHCHC will now offer walk up hours from 10am – 2pm, every day – Tuesday through Friday.  FHCHC is vaccinating with the Pfizer 2 dose vaccine and Johnson & Johnson 1 dose vaccine.

Anyone age 16- 17 is required to bring a parent or guardian to provide consent.

The Pfizer vaccine offers two distinct advantages over other vaccines approved for emergency use in the United States. It has been authorized for use in children 16 and 17, allowing more family members to receive the shot.  Secondly, the return visit for the second Pfizer vaccination is only 21 days, allowing individuals to reach their full immunity in five weeks.

“Opening up our vaccination center to walk ups seemed like the natural next step,” said Dr. Everett Lamm, Vice President of Clinical Affairs. “We understand schedules change and it’s important we allow for flexibility so more members of our community can have access to the vaccine. This also removes any phone or computer barriers people may face.”
